Announcement of Plan to Unite

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) for Listeners

1. Why did Immaculate Heart Radio and Relevant Radio decide to merge?

There is no more important or urgent task than to reach souls for Christ. This proposal is for the two largest owned and operated Catholic radio networks to unite under the patronage of the Immaculate Heart of Mary to bring more hearts home to the merciful embrace of the Father.

2. What are the benefits anticipated from this union?

The most significant benefits of uniting are network growth and financial stability. Following the union, our Catholic radio network will reach 133 million souls in 36 states, coast-to-coast and globally via the internet. The $30 Million capital campaign currently underway will significantly improve our long term cash flow and we are more than two-thirds of the way to our goal. In addition, gains are expected in revenue, effectiveness, and efficiency by combining the best practices of both organizations; however, operating cost savings are not a driving force of the union.

3. What will be the name of the new apostolate?

The new apostolate’s legal name will be Immaculate Heart Media, Inc. d/b/a Relevant Radio®.

4. Why the name “Relevant” Radio?

The name reflects our commitment to quality programming addressing the many facets of Catholic life and – most importantly- the fact that everything is relevant to Jesus and Jesus is relevant to everyone.

5. Who will lead the new apostolate?

Rev. Francis J. Hoffman will be the Executive Director and Doug Sherman will be President. The current Board of Directors will merge and be expanded. Tom Vorpahl will be the Chairman of the Board of Directors.

6. Will one line up of shows be aired on all stations?

No. Some shows will be national and some shows will be local or regional.

7. Will I still be able to listen to my favorite shows?

All Shows will be available on podcast via the Relevant Radio and Immaculate Heart Radio websites and mobile apps. Following the transition, broadcast shows may air at different times. We will notify you well in advance of any program changes that will be coming.

8. Where will the Relevant Radio Network broadcast?

We will broadcast inspirational Catholic radio programs 24/7 over 108 AM and FM radio stations and translators in 36 states reaching 133Million souls. Additionally, all programs will be live-streamed and available on podcast through multiple internet platforms including websites, mobile Apps, and social media portals.

9. Will my donations still be tax-deductible?

Yes. During the transition period donations to Relevant Radio and Immaculate Heart Radio will still be tax-deductible. As well, when the merger is complete, donations to Relevant Radio or Immaculate Heart Radio Media will be tax-deductible.

10. Will my prayer requests still be prayed for?

Yes. Prayer requests will be prayed for individually by associates and prayer partners.

11. What about the websites, mobile App, and social media pages?

Eventually there will be one Relevant Radio website, one Relevant Radio App, and coordinated Relevant Radio social media. There may be multiple streams to accommodate multiple programs.

12. Will my station still be on-air?

Yes. There are no plans to take any stations off-air. You can continue to listen on-air, on-line or on the mobile App.

13. Where will the headquarters be located?

The plan is for Green Bay, Wisconsin and Loomis, California to continue to be corporate and regional headquarters, respectively.

14. The Relevant Radio corporate office is located in Green Bay, WI, which is not far from Champion, WI, where the Blessed Mother appeared in 1859. Is there a connection?

Our Lady’s message was simple and straightforward: “teach the children what they need to know for their salvation.” Relevant Radio exists to help souls get to heaven.

15. Why was October 13, 2016 chosen for the announcement of the merger?

As our announcement comes on eve of the 100th anniversary of Fatima - the miracle of the sun and Pope Francis has consecrated his pontificate to Our Lady of Fatima, we give thanks and prayer to Our Lady for bringing us to this point. This date marks the anniversary of the sixth and final apparition of Our Lady of Fatima, which culminated with the Miracle of the Sun. As our announcement comes on the eve of the 100th anniversary of the apparitions at Fatima where Our Lady also revealed the devotion to Her Immaculate Heart, we thought it an appropriate date to announce the merger with Immaculate Heart Radio. We also desire to follow the example of Pope Francis, who consecrated his pontificate to Our Lady of Fatima on October 13, 2013, and St. John Paul II, our co-patron, who had a strong devotion to Our Lady of Fatima and credited Her for saving his life in 1981. We give thanks to Our Lady and Her Immaculate Heart for bringing us to this point.

16. When will this union be finalized?

We have $22 Million in commitments which is more than two-thirds of the $30 Million needed in order for the union to take place. We are working very hard to have the remaining funds committed by the end of this year. We are optimistic this momentum will carry us well beyond the minimum goal. Once that is done, we will apply for license transfers, which can take a few months. It will take some time to work through an orderly integration of systems before the transition is completed.

17. How is the money going to be raised?

We have been talking with generous individuals asking them to support our ‘Coast to Coast’ Campaign to extend our reach to bring more souls to Jesus. We are two-thirds of the way to raising the $30 Million needed. We thank all the generous benefactors who are supporting our Mission to bring more souls to Jesus Christ.

18. What are the plans for future growth?

In order to purchase a station, a license has to become available. We have numerous communities where there are large Catholic populations, currently without Catholic Radio, that we would like to serve. When a station comes on the market at a reasonable price in one of these communities, we will evaluate the purchase possibility and pursue the opportunity quickly if we have funds available. Ready access to funds is key to securing quality signals at reasonable prices. Also, we are always open to additional affiliate relationships.

19. What is the new apostolate’s mission statement?

Since the Mission Statements of Relevant Radio and Immaculate Heart Radio are essentially the same, we will have the same Mission Statement: Relevant Radio assists the Church in the New Evangelization by providing relevant programming through media platforms to help people bridge the gap between their faith and their everyday life. We believe that Jesus Christ can transform people’s lives, and that media has the power to deliver this message of hope in powerful and transformative ways. We exist to bring the beauty, goodness and truth of the Catholic Faith into the everyday lives of people who seek it, whenever and wherever they are.

20. What are the Guiding Principles of the apostolate?

The Guiding Principles of the apostolate are:
• Faithful to the Magisterium of the Roman Catholic Church
• United to the Bishops
• Under the protective intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary
